Burgundy and its wines
Here in the heart of Burgundy you can find a lot of traditionally wines grapes such as Chardonnais, Aligoté and Pinot noir. The Champagner method is used in order to elaborate the sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne. The famous wine regions are the "Chalonnais" all round the city of "Chalon-sur-Saône", the "Mâconnais" all round the city of "Mâcon" and the "Beaujolais" which is situated south of "Mâcon". In nearly every wine growing farm you can participate in a wine taste. But no only the wine growers offer wine tastes.

What about looking at the history of this region that leads us far into the middle ages? What about the architecturally very important and unique "Abbay St. Philibert" at Tournus (-->more) only 10 km south of our base and very easily attainable with bike, boat or car? What about the museum of photography (-->more) at "Chalon-sur-Saône" about 20 km northwards? It was here in one of the suburbs where Nicéphore Niepce invited in the 18th century the photography as we know it today.

The region all round our base, Tournus, Chalon-sur-Saône or Mâcon offers you a big variety of activities to you. By bike (that you can easily hire at our base -->more) you can explore the beauty of this region. If you like hiking there is no better place than the beautiful wine hills in generally west of the river Saône. And if your passion is fishing you will find a real paradise on earth. The river Saône and the small river Seille are known as very good hunting-grounds. From us you can get everything necessary (license, equipment) to enjoy your hobby. |
